Meirucorp Kitchen Set

Last year for my birthday, I gifted myself this 6 piece kitchen set from Meirucorp. It looks a lot like the Bespaq Provencial kitchen set. 

Pie & Cornish Pasties ~ Jasmin Schwarz

This July, I bought this pie and cornish pasties board. The seller did not know the name of the artist, but I was finally able to identify her after some sleuthing. This piece is by Jasmin Schwarz of Bitty Bits and Bobs. I found photos of this exact pie board when it was first sold by the artist on her Etsy store! 

In the artist's own words, here is the description accompanying the piece on Etsy. "Savory pies and Cornish pasties have long been a favorite for many. This 1:12 scale vignette pairs together a beautifully decorated savory pie along with two equally tempting cornish pasties. The edges of the pie have been carefully crimped and textured to give a realistic finish to them and they have been placed on a rustic cutting board. The wood cutting board has been carefully antiqued and has a delicate flowering vine design that winds its way around the edges of the board. Each board is hand distressed and each design is done by freehand to create a delicate relief effect that has a charming vintage feel to it. Making these boards is a real labor of love and each one has its own particular charm." 

Views of London Souvenir Miniature Book

This book is very special to me. It used to be in my Grandma's curio cabinet, and I was always fascinated by it. When I left Bangladesh in the late 90's, I never thought I would see it again, but this year my Aunt gave it to me. It was like getting a piece of my childhood back, along with memories of the house I grew up in. 

Until now however, I never knew how it came to be in our house. When I told my Aunt I am documenting the stories behind my miniature collection, she sent me the story of this book. Putting it here in her words so that I can read it years from now. 

"It was on one 19 December...I was in kindergarten...maybe 1964...it was bought in a pre Christmas school fair ...Dadu bought it for me...maybe I was awestruck by the mini book...

How I remember the date? This was courtesy of your Chachu...I think I was excitedly counting the day of the fair..always mentioning the date! Chachu ..as he is..would tease me...19 December ...19 December.!! And the date stuck in my mind...love you Chum..."

Queen Elizabeth II passed away today. I had been considering adding this book to my collection for some time now, but finally purchased it today in commemoration.
